Homemade dry plate emulsion shot with my Graflex Super D. The plate spent some time in lith developer, then D76.
Yes this is the negative 😀

So I went into last year's archive, and found this #cyanotype on glass I'm not sure I had shared. It's a flower of allium oleraceum, some kind of field garlic that grows in my area.

Failed but interesting test I made today. I wanted Failed but interesting test I made today. I wanted to see what happens when developping dry plates (homemade AmBr formula) in lith developer. After 14 minutes, nothing changed (I know it takes time with lith process, but really the plate was still milky). In the same time I shot another plate and developped in D76 (stock solution) as I usually do.
As nothing was happening in the lith developer, I rinsed the plate and put it in the D76 tray. Black appeared almost immediately. Stop+ fix + rinse as usual.
Below, on the left is the D76, on the right the Lith dev then D76.
As you can see I get much more density with the plate that spent some time in the lith developer, which was a great surprise as my usual plates are really not dense enough. (don't mind the nail scratches, this is my curse...)
I don't know the formula of the Moersch "easy lith" dev, but I guess it contains something that I could really use!
Any idea ?

11/ Water and sun

My last #cyanotypeonglassfail is really epic. Last year, I had the pleasure to show my work in Belgium, in an outdoor photo festival. So I prepared my cyanotype on glass with extra care, waterproof duck tape instead of the nice one I usually use, silicon joints, I was sure the glass plates could endure any weather. What a fool I was… The first week end, it rained, a lot. I had made these prints few weeks before so the gelatin probably had still a bit of moisture inside. The rain went between the glass plates (the one with the gelatin and the one that protects it), and it started melting. The next day, the sunlight finished ruining it. Let’s say it was living art. .

So I finally got my first results with the microsc So I finally got my first results with the microscope camera: first film I was not aware of a hatch to pull, second film I did not put the ocular in the camera tube. Third time's the charm, I had no idea of the exposure time (I could go from 1/125s to B and T - I went up to 8 seconds), so I tried every speed on the shutter with different lenses/aperture.
What a ride...
This is a shot of an old cyanotype on glass which had nice crystallisation. The last view was taken with my phone in the ocular.
Next week I'll try with a webcam (that my brother uses for astrophotography), I'm looking forward to seeing what I can get.
Stacked images are a thing in #photomicrography, I might try that with the digital device.
To be continued... ☺️
